Privacy Policy
Last updated: October 30, 2026
Wasfa is operated by ANZ Apps ("we", "us"). This policy explains what information the Wasfa app ("Wasfa") collects, why, who we share it with, and the choices you have. We collect only what we need to run and improve the app. We do not sell your data, we do not show ads, and we do not track you across other companies' apps or websites.
Information we collect
Account information. When you first open Wasfa we create an anonymous account so you can start right away. If you sign in with Apple or Google, we receive your name (if you share it), your email address (or an Apple private relay address) and an account identifier from that provider. We never see your Apple or Google password.
Content you add. The links you share into Wasfa, the photos you import or attach, and the recipes, cookbooks, meal plans, shopping lists, notes and edits you create.
Problem reports. When you report a problem with a recipe or an ingredient, we receive what you said was wrong, any comment you add, and which recipe or ingredient it was about.
Preferences. Settings such as your language, units, and dietary preferences.
Purchases. If you subscribe or buy image packs, the purchase is handled by Apple or Google. We receive a record of what you bought and whether a subscription is active, not your payment card details. Your Wasfa account identifier is shared with our subscription management service so your purchases stay with your account. We also count how much of the free plan you have used (recipe saves, AI actions, assistant messages and voice questions) and keep your AI picture balance.
Device and technical information. A push notification token (if you allow notifications), your device model, operating system and app version, and server logs (such as request times and errors) needed to keep the service working and secure.
Usage and diagnostics. How you use the app, such as which screens you open and which features you use, linked to a random identifier for your account. If the app crashes or hits an error, we receive a crash report with technical details about what went wrong. We use this to fix bugs and decide what to improve, not for advertising.
Voice. Voice commands in cook mode use the speech recognition built into your device by Apple or Google. Wasfa receives only the recognized words to act on them and does not record or store your audio.
Chats with the assistant. Your chats with the assistant are stored only on your device. To answer, we send your messages to our AI providers, along with the recipe you asked about and, when the assistant looks through your library, the recipes it finds there. Nothing from the chat is kept on our servers: we record only that a message was sent and what it cost, to count your free messages and keep the service running. Chats are deleted when you sign out, delete the app or clear its data, and are not restored on a new device. Recipes you make or change through the assistant are saved to your library like any other.
How we use your information
- To turn links and photos into recipes, and to translate, edit, calculate nutrition for and illustrate them when you ask.
- To save your library and keep it in sync across your devices, including offline.
- To answer your cooking questions in the assistant.
- To read recipe steps aloud in cook mode.
- To send notifications you have allowed, such as when an import is ready.
- To provide subscriptions and purchases, and enforce free-plan limits.
- To correct recipes and ingredient information you report as wrong.
- To diagnose crashes and errors, prevent abuse and keep the service secure.
- To understand how the app is used, so we can improve it.
How we process recipes
When you share a link, our servers fetch the public post or page (including its caption, video audio or transcript, and images) to extract the recipe. When you import a photo, the photo is sent to our servers for the same purpose. This content is processed by third-party AI and transcription providers. We send them only what is needed for the task, and we do not use your content to train our own AI models.
Who we share information with
We share information only with service providers that run parts of Wasfa on our behalf, under terms that restrict them to providing that service:
- Hosting and infrastructure — storing your account and library, sign-in, file storage, server processing, and syncing your library to your devices.
- AI and transcription providers — extracting, structuring, translating and editing recipes, transcribing the audio of recipe videos, generating recipe images when you ask for one, answering your questions in the assistant, and reading recipe steps aloud.
- Content fetching services — retrieving the public social media posts and web pages you share.
- Notification services — delivering push notifications and Live Activities, including through Apple and Google.
- Payment services — Apple and Google process purchases, and a subscription management service keeps track of what you have bought.
- Crash reporting and product analytics — understanding errors and how the app is used.
A list of the specific providers we use is available on request at support@getwasfa.com.
We may also disclose information if required by law, to protect the rights and safety of our users or others, or as part of a merger or acquisition, in which case this policy will continue to apply.
Retention and deletion
We keep your information for as long as you have an account. You can delete your account at any time in Settings → Delete account. This permanently deletes your account, your recipes and everything else you created, along with your uploaded photos. Anonymous accounts that were never used are deleted automatically after 90 days of inactivity. Assistant chats are kept only on your device and are deleted when you sign out or delete the app; on our servers we keep only a count of messages and their cost. Server logs and backups are kept for a limited period and then overwritten. Some purchase records may be kept by us and our payment services as required for tax, accounting and handling refunds.
Security
Data is encrypted in transit, and each account can only access its own data. No method of storage or transmission is completely secure, but we work to protect your information and limit who can access it.
Your rights
Depending on where you live, you may have the right to access, correct, export or delete your personal information, or to object to or restrict how we use it. You can delete your data yourself in the app; for any other request, contact us at the address below. You may also have the right to complain to your local data protection authority.
Our service providers may process information in countries other than your own, including the United States. Where required, we rely on appropriate safeguards such as standard contractual clauses.
Children
Wasfa is not directed at children under 13 (or the minimum age in your country), and we do not knowingly collect their personal information. If you believe a child has given us information, contact us and we will delete it.
Changes to this policy
We may update this policy from time to time. We will post the new version here and update the date above, and tell you in the app if the changes are significant.
